what i mentioned there is for pve, for pvp you do have to group with others because its player vs player. except for 1vs1 including hero vs hero

Fortunately, other developers think along these lines too. I remember reading a LotRO interview recently where the devs acknowledged that the latest MMORPGs are having to cater for a broader spectrum of players to be competitive in the market, especially those who enjoy solo play.
So for those who think the game should be pushed heavily towards grouping, you'd best ask ANet how they feel that would have affected sales of the game ...

I just needed to get to Forge so I did only 3 quests but it was a breeze, even undead were not a problem despite the lack of corpses. When I have some more time I'll prolly try to do the whole area.

i don't see what the problem is with having henchmen in fow/uw or any of the other "elite" areas. fow and uw are probably the easiest of the elite areas. and there are definitely areas in the regular parts of the game that are much harder than these two in which henchmen work quite well. so i don't understand what the problem is with not allowing them. otherwise you can always take a buddy's heroes with you...
come to think of it, that would be kind of interesting. use your own heroes and configure them however you want. then you borrow a buddy's heroes and give them the exact same skillbar that a corresponding henchman would have. see how well you do. i'll bet a team of 3 heroes and 3 "henchmen" can at least finish all the fow quests.

by that argument, you might as well not allow henchmen in hard mode. there are many areas in hard mode that are much harder than uw/fow/urgoz/deep in normal mode. and yet, in these areas, heroes+henchmen do just fine.

Quick question:
Would you rather have a good pug or go h/h? (Please answer that)
I rather go through, say, 3 crap pugs to get a good one, than do it h/h because a good pug is more fun, and why do you play this game, becuase it is fun. And h/h is far to predictable to be fun. And I think those few crap pugs are worth it.
Unpredictablility is fun :P

For me: I don't PUG*. Quality of team members is irrelevant.
I play with H/H because I want to play the way I want to play, when I want to play.
* The only times I've PUG'd have been when people have asked for help and no-one else felt like it, and when I wanted to try human-only tactics (e.g. Ursanway). With a few hilarious exceptions I wouldnt' say the PUGs I joined have been bad, but they've all been stressed out and rushing, and "gogogo" is not my preferred style of play.

h/h
I get to play how I want, I dont have to spend time forming a group, I can run whatever build I like, I can go afk when I like etc.
No matter how skillful or "nice" a pug is it restricts play more than h/h does.

sinced every pug wants to ursan fow and uw i've pretty much stopped going with pugs. Altho ursan is fast and efficient, its boring.
It takes too much effort to get a guild group together since my guild is small.
so i pretty much don't get to go to elite areas as often as pre-ursan days.
bring on the hencies and let me play those area how i wanna play them.

If only we can votekick and replace teammates mid-instance...
If only we know who the hell is pinging like a woodpecker on crack...
If only we know who is the asshat drawing those kinky pictures...
GWs killed multiplayer not henchies or heroes.

I'v wanted a full npc group for all areas since I first discovered fow/uw.
But I would rather be allowed to use 7 heroes than henchies. We should be able to use 7 heroes all the time, and In the elite areas like fow/uw (elite to some) deep, urgoz, and all the other areas that exclude henchies.
I'm not a big fan of henchies, I used them to beat prophecies. Which was no easy feat for me, but I did it. I played with players maybe 5 times total in the first year of playing gw, and honestly, i had more success with henchies than i did players. I failed less.
I got halfway through factions before i took a break from the game, and came back with nightfall, got my heroes and fell inlove, I beat nightfall pretty easily with heroes and henchies, Only grouped with players twice, Both times were friends. Then I went back and beat factions with my heroes and henchies. Did not group at all.
It would be very nice if anet finally allowed 7 heroes and stopped bsing around. Stop with the excuses and the reasons why promoting group play is a goal and let us players have our 7 heroes. Players who like to play with other humans will continue to do so, those of us who do not socialize will be able to enjoy the game even more. 7 heroes would save a lot of time building new characters who can solo specific areas. Also even people like myself who normally hero/hench play with people sometimes, like our guildmates and such. But it would be nice to have the option to control our own experiences and no longer have to put up with npc henchies who use skills at the wrong times.
Henchmen act like they are on drugs, The fighter is ok because its another body to soak damage, the guardian is ok because its the same as the fighter except it has rez sig. The healer is ok, it heals better than some monk players I'v seen. But most of the others are not very good. Like the earth ele. Who drops wards 50 feet from where the combat is taking place. Or the mes who likes to interrupt weak skills and allow the monsters to hit with the big spells.
7 heroes = players right to choose. Guildwar heroes are awesome and I would love to use 7 of them.
1 minion master
2 stance tank
3 fire ele
4 healer monk
5 prot monk
6 smiter monk
7 earth ele
thats just one set i would love to run.
OR
3 fire eles
2 healer monks
1 paragon
2 ritualists
OMG! wet dream!

I don't know of any "regular missions" harder than UW..
FoW IS a joke, but UW can be tricky.
